This Friday (23), at 9:30 am, the event “Tales from a Manor, Tales from a Museum” – in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Baroness Museum. During the day, Oswaldo Antunes Macielone of the lessons of the Baroness, to share with the public their memories and experiences about the area. The Parque da Baronesa Municipal Museum was founded in 1982, after a renovation led by the artist Adail Bento Costa. The site includes the former Chácara dos Barões de Três Serros, along with the Baronesa Park.
The residence, built in 1863, and a plot of seven hectares given to the Municipality in 1978, with a set of architectural elements with a romantic taste, like a castle, a bathroom, a fountain, a French and English. gardens, canals with bridges and lakes with an island, a grotto and a 1935 American townhouse.
In 1985, the buildings and the park were listed as cultural and heritage of Pelotas. Currently, the museum belongs to the Department of Culture (Secult) and, since 1995, it has been supported by the Associação de Amigos do Museu da Baronesa (Ambar).
The house contains a collection composed of furniture, women’s and men’s clothing, bedclothes, robes, bedding, table and bath linens, personal items, photographs and historical documents, representatives of the traditions of the Pelotas society from the end of the 19th century to the 19th. century since the 1930s.
